This is a very cool software only solution for stereoscopic vision on an iPhone/iPad. Imagine Google’s 3D anatomy where body parts left out of the screen

Something very similar was presented at TED, but required a head tracking system. These folks use the iPhone/iPad front facing camera to track the users head and then shift the display of 3D objects accordingly to give the appearance of the object protruding from the screen.
